Hughes And Salvidge Commences Work On Historic Parker Pen Factory

We are well accustomed to working on historic sites as detailed on our ‘projects’ page and we can confirm that Hughes and Salvidge have commenced demolition of another iconic setting; the Parker Pen factory in Newhaven, East Sussex.

Situated on Railway Road, the building was first established as a pen factory in the 1920’s and taken over by Parker Pen in 1941, until its closure in 2010, since which time it has sat empty.

Plans are afoot to regenerate the site with proposals put forward to transform it into a housing development and community centre.

But before that goes ahead, the arduous and careful process of pulling down the structure has to be undertaken and we were delighted to be commissioned for the project.

You can read more about the factory and view a video of the progress made so far by Hughes and Salvidge here: http://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/news/local/demolition-begins-at-parker-pen-factory-in-newhaven-1-6077777.
